January Favourites

It's near the end of another month so we all know what that means; some monthly favourites! I've been enjoying mostly old favourites this January, but a new skincare item has crept it's way into my stocks and I think it's here to stay...

It went around the blogosphere quite rapidly - a handful (perhaps two handfuls,) of bloggers introduced the new fragrance from Marc Jacobs, Honey and then also mentioned the competition taking place on instagram. I briefly mentioned this in my Saturday post, but I actually won a prize* from it. I don't know how many winners (although Google tells me 40 for the UK, I could be wrong,) there are, or how long it's running for but I figured I'd show my prize as it made me so happy - please don't think I'm bragging or showing off, as that's not in my nature, as this is a beauty blog it feels okay to mention a perfume even if I have won it.

The perfume itself is gorgeous and not just the bottle - it's base notes are; honey, golden vanilla, smooth woods. Mid notes are; orange blossom, peach nectar, apricot, honeysuckle. Top notes are; pear and mandarin.

It's really not a surprise I love it; orange blossom, vanilla, honeysuckle and mandarin are some of my favourite scents - it's definitely more on the fruity side, but it feels a bit more 'grown up' you could say with the smooth wood scents and honey. 

I also received a pretty logo bracelet which is also currently sitting pretty beside my perfume.

So, finally - thank you Marc Jacobs Fragrances - I completely love this prize & it was a lovely surprise to win one.

Revlon Lip Butter in Sugar Frosting, Revlon Just Bitten in Honey

If you were to ask me what was my favourite high street/drug store brand of 2013 later on down the line - well so far Revlon is currently leading my personal poll. What with their release of Lip Butters (everyone has raved about them, so I shan't bother,) their 'Just Bitten' lip stains last year and of course more recently their 'Nearly Naked' line (foundation and powders so far,) - they seem to be on a winning path for this coming year.

I already own three lip stains - Romantic (a deep brick red,) Rendezvous (a bright orange, coral when applied lightly,) and Crush (a dark plum,) not to mention the lip butters - Berry Smoothie, Tutti Fruti and Strawberry Shortcake - all of which compliment each other perfectly when worn together, Tutti Fruti with Rendezvous and Berry Smoothie with Crush for example. 

So of course my latest purchases shouldn't come as any surprise - to myself or my ever-exasperated boyfriend. Honey and Sugar Frosting have the same pink with slightly purple/blue undertones (in my opinion so don't hold me to it,) that make it perfect for daytime or even to compliment a more complex smokey eye at night. 

The staying power of both of these products are pretty incredible considering the price - during the day I will usually just top up the stain using my own lip balm and of an evening only the bear minimum is required to keep it looking polished. 

I honestly have no gripe with these products - I know some aren't a fan of the scent of the lip stains - I personally like it. At £7.99, and most of the time Superdrug/Boots have a three for two offer on, you can't really say no, right?
