Given that I spent the first half of the month on holiday, it seems fitting that all of my favourites are what I took with me...

September | Notes
Let's take a moment and kick back, go get a cup of tea or coffee. Maybe some rum. Time is flying by, perhaps because I'm older it feels like a month doesn't last a whole lot now? Either way - oh my goodness, it's October guys!
Last month I mentioned I'd been to see a back specialist at a local-to-me city hospital who in turn then booked me in for an MRI scan (which hasn't happened yet,) and more physio but at my local hospital - which is only just happening, it starts tomorrow. I feel pretty grumpy about the whole thing and how long it's taken to come into place. I have to remain positive things are actually going somewhere now though.
I also mentioned last month a little To-Do list and I'm halfway there! The wall unit and runner that was in place (when a computer used to be in this nook,) has been ripped out and walls and the worktop/desk have been painted white. I'm leaving it white for a while - I quite like how more spacious it looks at the moment. I also need to get a few bits from Ikea still, but on the whole it looks so much more organized - more like a vanity and less like a computer desk. Score.
Baking has recently come back into my life - although I need help putting it into the oven, there's nothing from stopping me rolling out pastry and serving up some pie. I was quite pleased this one came out so beautifully. I also made banana and oat muffins - they were delightful.
Uni has officially started for Josh and I, obviously me at home on my laptop can be distracting but I find myself not wanting to go off and window shop - I've found that I am pretty good at keeping to the task at hand. Which I'm proud of myself for.
Apart from that nothing much else has happened. I've acquired all my bits for my Autumn wardrobe; lots of light knitwear and a two new shirts/blouses. I'm all set - although that probably won't stop a cheeky purchase or two in the near future!
If you're wondering who's the cutie in the picture - that's my dog Scruffy. We didn't name him, by the way. Also please don't comment on his eye - the vet called it Cherry Eye and it's nothing to worry about, it's just one of his quirky little features. ;)
All that remains to be said is have an awesome October - normal posting will resume tomorrow if you're not a fan of these rants - and I'd love to hear what's happened to you guys over September.
Peace!

September Favourites
It's that time of the month again; a little roundup of products that have pleased me during the month of September. I hasten to add I haven't worn much makeup, in fact my priorities this month have been hair and skin since I'm not at work and I've really only been using two products if I really must put make up on.
First up then is the Maybelline Fit Me concealer (review here) - non drying, good medium coverage, this has been a god send for me as of late. I had a reaction to something (it's one of two things,) and I erupted in little under the skin spots. Not very painful, but quite annoying. If I had to go out anywhere that wasn't Lidl, then I plopped some of this on to make my skin somewhat presentable.
To give my pale skin a bit of life on bad (ill) days - I also added the Soap and Glory Cheekmate (review here) to my lips and cheeks. It just gives the right amount of rosy glow and only a tiny amount is needed. Definitely one to look out for next time you're in Boots!
The John Frieda Luxurious Volume Shampoo* and Conditioner* (review here) have really been keeping my hair at it's best, providing a decent amount of volume whilst keeping hair light. I've also taken a shine to the Blow-Dry Root Booster Lotion* which sprayed on towel dried hair has given the crown of my hair serious lift!
I've spoken of my love for Vichy products quite briefly, but one product that I always go back to is the Vichy Purete Thermal Hydra Soothing Toner. It's hydrating, soothing and doesn't tighten the skin. I recently broke out and picked up a new bottle of this and it's really helped calm the skin down completely. I should also mention that I've already had four bottles of this and one bottle of the Hydra Perfecting toner - which is really good too but aimed at oily/combination skin. So yes, it's a really great toner.
Another skincare godsend is the Super Facialist Calming Creamy Cleanser from the Rose Hydrate range. This is a thick cream that smells of roses (and not artificial smelling either,) and just does a marvelous job of cleansing the skin yet keeping it calm as possible. I should have known it was going to be great since I adore the moisture mask from the same range.
Last but not least was a cheeky Origins purchase - the Super Spot Remover. I wasn't kidding when I said I had broken out like crazy - all around the chin area. It was bumpy, almost like a spotty stubble (sexy description, right?) and whilst I'm glad they weren't the huge under skin spots that tend to be very painful, they were sore for the first few days. This has helped reduced the redness significantly and the spots are now on their way out (pale skin, spot 'scars' tend to hang around a lot easier on me) and this also came with a Gift With Purchase, which is always an incentive to buy!
So that was my round up of favourites for this month, I'd love to know what yours are!
Peace!

Beauty Bag | September
Whilst September signifies the starting of Autumn for me, it is also the most frustrating month in terms of make up. While there are children going back to school, it always seems that the hot weather clings on for the first two weeks, making me crave chillier weather.
For that reason I'll either be rocking one of two bases this month - the Dr. Jart Beauty Balm for warmer days and the No7 Essentially Natural foundation for the cooler days. Both are lightweight but impart a nice dewy look and are a doddle to apply.
In terms of blush - I'll be sticking to the Max Factor Creamy Blush - it's so easy to do just the lightest flushed look with this and one that I've become partial to. Eyes will be graced by the new Collection Shadow Pencils - just the shade Hot Chocolate for day time wear (a seriously gorgeous bronze) but for evening I'll be mixing in Denim Diva for a pretty take on the smokey eye.
To go with said smokey eye I've chosen a pink toned nude from the Rimmel Moisture Renew range called Notting Hill Nude - it's pretty hard to find a nude that doesn't look too brown, and this is a perfect choice for my skin tone.
Last but not least I found the most gorgeous grey-toned lilac (grurple according to Elle online...) in the form of Maybelline Forever Strong in Lilac Charm. It's perfect for the tricky transition from Summer to Autumn and is just plain gorgeous.
So tell me, what's in your beauty bag this month?
It's also worth mentioning - Wanda completely approves of these choices, especially the lipstick.
Peace!
