I find gel nail polish/varnish to be somewhat of a hit and miss. Whilst some are amazing some can be a right fiddle to get on board with...

Spring Red
Let's talk about Spring nails shall we? Let's face it, so far all I've seen are more pastels I can shake a stick at. And that's cool. I love a good pastel blue nail. Mint green? I'm down.
But it's same-y.

NARS Velvet Lip Pencil | Red Square + Mandore
When these velvet lip pencils first came out the hype surrounding them was massive, so much so that I held back for a good while before even considering what shade to buy first. Fast forward to this post from Camey and I gave in - Red Square (velvet matte,) had to be mine. Then of course I spied the Night Caller Fall Collection, specifically the shade (velvet satin,) Mandore. If you're a fan of long lasting, bold colours - in a matte formulation (and indeed satin-matte formulations,) - you're gonna need to pick these up if you haven't already and here's why...

theBalm Bahama Mama
Call me a coward but I am more or less petrified of base powder products. Having dry skin and in the past using poor products and poor tools meant run ins with the dreaded cake-face and given my preference for a more natural slightly dewy finish - you can understand me gently dipping my toes back into the powdery waters, so to speak. Given my recent-ish new love, the Revlon Highlighting Palette went so swimmingly I decided to indulge myself in another bronzing product, this time theBalm Bahama Mama...

Summer Top 5 | Nails
Say what you will but as soon as it hits June it is summer for me. Like it or lump the weather we are dealt with in the UK, you have to make the most of it. So regardless if it's thunderstorms or sweltering heat waves... I'll be rocking summer-ready nails.

Barbara Daly Long Wear Eyeshadow
The Barbara Daly range isn't a cosmetic brand I actively seek out; it's usually when I'm perusing the aisles of Tesco that one thing might peak my interest, but other than that it's not my first port of call. Now, I feel kind of bad about that because I picked up this beauty for a mere £3...

Nails Inc & InStyle Magazine
Just a quick post today - you've probably seen it floating around, but in case you're not aware InStyle Magazine has three shades of Nails Inc polishes in their mag this month - a bright pink, a bright orange and a rather delectable nude shade... three guesses which I picked up?

Revlon Highlighting Palette | Bronze Glow
It's not often I listen to hype about powder products from the blogosphere. My dry skin hates powder most days and it's why I skip powder blushers in favour of cream (that stay cream,) stain and gel formulations...

Revlon Nail Enamel Gold Goddess | Rio Rush
Moving on from Wednesdays post, the last 'piece' I picked up from the Revlon 'Rio Rush' collection was their new nail enamel in 'Gold Goddess.' If you're looking for a gold leaf effect polish? Look no further..

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick Kiss Me Coral | Rio Rush
Before I went flitting off to Spain I had made a standard pilgrimage to Boots to pick up last minute essentials (more on that in another post soon...) but I had spied the new Rio Rush collection from Revlon and pledged to have a proper look once I returned. I've always enjoyed Revlon's summer collections - especially the nail/lip offerings so once I did return and swatched my heart out... Things gone got bought.

No7 Skin Illuminator | Radiance Boosting Beauty Fluid
Who here loves highlighter? Hands up, right? I picked up the No7 Radiance Boosting Beauty Fluid Skin Illuminator in Peach on a recent trip to Boots to pick up some last minute pieces for my holiday. I'd been eyeing this for a while, along with the Revlon PhotoReady Skinlights (in Bronze and Peach respectively,) but as the shades I wanted weren't in stock in my local Boots - I instead turned to my first choice...

Essie | Spring 2014 Collection
I've said it before and I'll say it again; I am a sucker for an Essie collection and when I saw the new Spring 2014 'Hide and Go Chic' colours, well. Wild horses and all that...

Revlon Matte Balm | Striking
It has been a long wait, you know. The Revlon 'Just Bitten' balms are some of my favourite lip crayons, ever. So when it was announced that there were to be two more variations, one of them matte... well let me just say, it set my beauty-loving heart a flutter. My first dip into the waters comes in the shade 'Striking' - an unoffensive bright red, but perfect for road testing the formulation of the new release...

L'Oreal Lumi Magique Concealer
First and foremost; one of my favourite illuminating concealers has to be from YSL, the classic 'Touche Eclat' stole my heart when I was fourteen (and has many times over...) but after my latest tube ran out I ran out and picked up the Collection offering (amazing quality, insanely cheap price. Holy grail for me,) but soon that had also ran out. I'd been tempted from the L'Oreal Lumi Magique range for a while, especially the concealer pen with its sleek golden tubing, similar of course to its higher end sister. I had to indulge...

L'Oreal Brow Artiste
I've always had a preference for filling in my brows with a pencil; they've always lasted a tad longer sans dodgy smudging and are much simpler to cart around on a day to day basis, and of course easier to travel with. However finding a good colour to match your brows can be a royal pain. Most normal 'brunette' shades come up far to orangey/red (which is currently my dyed hair colour, actually...) so don't match my actual brow hairs which in the past has resulted in many questionable looks from friends and family...

Essie Winter 2013 Collection
I think I'm not the only one in saying I am down for any of Essie's seasonal collections, no? Here's the deal though, I usually only pick two a year - either between the summer or resort and likewise fall or winter. There is usually a similarity between the colours after all and it helps saves the pennies. This year, you've already seen I chose the Summer collection, and for the more colder months it had to be the winter collection...
In this years mini cube (there are two more shades available not in this cube,) you get four delicious shades, pretty beautiful for this time of year. First up is 'Mind Your Mittens' which is a deep (almost navy) teal. Second is Shearling Darling (for which the collection is named,) which is a super glossy plush burgundy red. The glitter of the bunch is called 'Toggle to the Top' which is described as a 'sparkling crushed garnet red' - pretty spot on. Last but not least is 'Sable Colar' described as a 'pearlescent cocoa plum' - this almost looks like a greige/aubergine/purple concoction (pretty similar to Rimmel Hot List,) and has a slight shimmer running through.
As with all Essie polishes, wear time is great (a full seven days with Seche Vite as your top coat before any sort of chips appear,) and the finish on all of these polishes is literally the most beautiful. Yes, I'm in love.
This collection is pretty beautiful and I'm glad I picked it up, I got mine from ebay here, which has sold out but you can still get some here or pick the three cube collection at Boots and Superdrug, so I'm told but they are selling out quick!
Have you tried the Essie Winter 2013 collection yet?
Peace!

KORRES Lip Butter
There are just some products that remain embedded in your memories - whether you've read them on blogs countless times, or have seen rave reviews on a website - or your friends pestering you that you really have to get this, it's amazing.
Well, one that stuck out one particular day whilst finishing up shopping on ASOS was the Korres Lip Butter which had been in my 'save for later' section for a while, but I'd completely forgotten about. In the basket it went.

HD Brows Eye & Brow Palette
I couldn't resist posting a review on this palette, I had to. It's only been two days since my post on the Latest in Beauty Glamour Beauty Edit box, however I now understand why so many people rave about these palettes... Worth the hype? Most definitely!

MAC Russian Red
I mean it was just time. Months spent going to the MAC site, searching for it, looking at swatches online and in store, in various lighting situations.
