August | Notes

Last month I did a little 'kick back' session and just rambled about everything from that month - a thorough little personal update which I quite liked writing, so here I am again; get ready for some rambles.

I went to hospital on Thursday to meet with a back specialist. It went pretty well, he thinks it's mechanical back pain (and actually explained what it meant,) but I still have to have an MRI in about six weeks time just because of something that happened, just to for sure rule out anything 'sinister' - but I felt much more positive afterwards.

It just feels like it's taken a long time to get to this positive point after quite a few down days, rages and just plain anger/grumpiness. He also mentioned that I am quite 'mobile' (or joint hypermobility) which is something to do with the collagen in your joints (don't hold me to this, I ain't medically trained after all) which apparently affects dancers and gymnasts; to which I wittily replied "well, I've missed out on that career then" - my mum laughed... he didn't.

I also start physio up again although thankfully a tad more local - and I'm really thinking I might see a change over the coming month. Fingers crossed!

Home wise I've pretty much decided on what's going to happen over the next month too - we have limited space in this house so making it to our tastes, whilst having approval has been difficult in past but is getting easier over time. I'm still undecided on paint colour for the worktop but I still have a few weeks to decide anyway.

I've also found my dream team for a super triple threat mask combination! It's taken some time and no doubt I'll have to switch it up again in three months time but for now they are amazing.

Products I've swooned over as of late; this biker jacket from H&M - oh my god I need it and also this lightweight insect patterned scarf from Topshop. Because why the hell not.

Blogs I have loved as of recently; Jen writes on jennypurr and it is a delight to read, and there's always a plethora of skincare goodies to read about. I also love The Private Life of a Girl - written by Sophie, who also runs Oh My Clumsy Heart - an amazing shop full of beautiful jewellery - I want it all!

As for what I'm hoping for in September? Cooler weather, not a lot of rain, for physio to help my back and possibly the space to make some soup and pies.

Peace!

August Favourites

This month I've been sticking mostly to what I know make up wise - but skincare has definitely made its rounds this month thanks to some tricky blemishes but in any case, here are my favourites for this month...

Super Facialist/Una Brennan Tea Flower Deep Clean Pore Purifying Mask; I loved the Rose Hydrate Moisture Mask from the same brand and figured on giving this one a go too. I wasn't disappointed; it's a lovely, deep cleaning clay mask and once used my skin feels thoroughly refreshed, soft and just feels so darn clean. The scent is beautiful too.

Botanics Ultra Calm Skin Relief Serum; I have red cheeks pretty much all the time and there is no escaping from it fully. However, I've been using this little serum post-tone and pre-hydrating serum of an evening and really does help keep the redness at bay and just cool and calm everything down. Love it.

Real Techniques Limited Edition Duo Fiber Collection; A lot of people didn't really get on with the eye brush from this collection but I can safely say I love them all - they pick up just enough product and do all the blending beautifully.

Origins Drink Up Intensive; I picked up this sample just to road test what it would be like on my sensitive skin; it's fine... but it is also beautiful! Seriously, it smells gorgeous (not always a contributing factor but it helps,) and really does pack some much needed hydration in over night. I just use this as a night moisturiser (you can still use your usual night time moisturiser underneath though,) about two nights a week and my skin just feels so much softer and plumper afterwards.

Rimmel Salon Pro 'Kate' in Rock 'N' Roll; I have Peppermint and Reggae Splash from the Salon Pro range and adore them. I ran out of my usual favourite red and decided to give this a go. This is so beautiful, to start with. A nice deep red that is opaque with one coat but I always use two (for luck, perhaps,) and lasts on the nails sans chips for about four days, depending also on the kind of top coat you use - but it just suits my skin tone perfectly. Adore.

So that is it for this month - tell me what are your favourites, I'll be waiting with pen and paper.

Peace!

August Favourites

Caudalie Beauty Elixir, Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Conditioner (Colour Mate), Palmers Cocoa Butter for Stretch Marks, Hugo Boss Orange, Morrison's Omega 3, 6 & 9, Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain.

I haven't done a video in yonks, but I am still at that stage where I am worried about my pox marks. Silly, as most of them from my face have gone. But I digress...

I've used 3 bottles of the Aussie Colour Mate since my last vlogs on youtube. It really is beautiful and smells amazing. Can't get enough. I use it especially after I have had my hair dyed (no, not a natural red...) and it gives my hair some life after being battered by peroxide. :)

Strange to include the vitamins but this is an important way of life, getting all the good stuff. I've actually been remembering to take my multi-vits, omega and garlic tablets for a change and feel much better. Also having mildly cut out some crap in terms of eating habits has helped. Just need to kick my filthiest habit; smoking. Then I'm all set.

The Revlon lip stains are a given; they really are worth the hype!

Hugo Boss Orange - My favourite scent ever. It's my staple.

One more thing; the Caudalie Serum was a freebie from feel unique because I purchased the Beauty Elixir. It is AMAZING! Pricey at about £36 but I can see it being an investment!

Peace!
