Top 5 | French Skincare

The skincare world can be a baffling one to navigate at the best of times, from trying to figure out what your skin type is and finding the products to target that type, within your price range but still provides great quality results? Yeah. Mind boggling.

Luckily, this little roundup from French skincare brands should hopefully help you if you're in a pickle, especially as most of the brands offer varying products for different skin types.

Bioderma Micelle Solution. Can you remember the pandemonium when these clear bottles made their way (finally!) to good ol' blighty? I use the Sensibio H20 variety as it suits my sensitive skin but this is suitable for dry/normal skin too - they have different varieties for combination/oily skin (Sebium H20) and one targeted at skin sensitivity and dehydration (Hydrabio H20.) I prefer using this just for when I have a 'heavier' eye make up look than usual and then proceed with an oil cleanser as standard. I don't think there's anything like Bioderma Micelle Solutions for getting rid of the bulk of make up quickly, whilst still being effective, mild and gentle.

Nuxe Reve De Miel Cleansing Gel. Catered for dry/sensitive skin types this cleansing gel firstly smells like heaven and secondly is an amazing gel cleanser. It doesn't strip the skin at all - and removes make up with ease too. I love using this first thing in the morning as it's completely refreshing and perks me up.

Vichy Purete Thermale Hydra Perfecting Toner. The only toner I repeatedly go back to. It's hydrating and soothing, so perfect for multiple skin types. There's also a version suitable for normal/combination and sensitive (which I've also used and loved just as equally!) so most are catered to once again.

La Roche Posay Hydreane Riche. My moisturiser of choice. Pretty much all the time, ever. It can be used day and night, really soothes and hydrates and is overall a great moisturiser to have on hand. They also have a light version too, for those with more combination/oily skin types that still need that extra hydration and soothing.

Avene Hydrance Optimale UV Riche SPF 20. My SPF of choice on a day to day basis. Obviously being a pale one, I need to go higher on the SPF scale when it gets super hot (and I generally don't wear make up on those days either,) - but this one is perfect for everyday-underneath make up kind of deal. Its light weight whilst being hydrating, sinks into the skin well and leaves no cast marks and obviously provides great SPF coverage - I've never burnt when using this. Like the other brands I've mentioned, there's also a light version if you have a combination/oily skin type.

What's your favourite French skincare item?

Sophie.
