It has been a long wait, you know. The Revlon 'Just Bitten' balms are some of my favourite lip crayons, ever. So when it was announced that there were to be two more variations, one of them matte... well let me just say, it set my beauty-loving heart a flutter. My first dip into the waters comes in the shade 'Striking' - an unoffensive bright red, but perfect for road testing the formulation of the new release...
The balms still have the peppermint scent like their predecessors, so if you're weren't a fan then, you won't be now either - however, the scent doesn't last very long at all.
As these are more of a balm, they aren't completely matte, there's certainly a velvet feel about them but in my opinion it makes them better than say a standard drugstore matte - which can often need plenty of extra lip scrubs and lip balm before application, just to make sure lips are super smooth. With these, you don't. There is no drag and certainly no patchiness to it at all. What's left is a smooth, velvety matte lip.
Obviously lasting time isn't as great as say MAC Russian Red - however it's a doddle to apply, doesn't take that much effort at all so it doesn't bother me at all to need to top it up every four hours or so.
Will I be buying again? Oh yes, Audacious, Standout, Elusive, Mischievous and Unapologetic are next on my hit list.
